Born from a shared passion for flight.

Founded in 1980 with a single aircraft, Hillsboro Aero Academy has grown to become one of the largest multi-campus helicopter and airplane flight schools in the United States, with a global reputation as one of the world’s most respected flight schools.

Our mission statement reflects our commitment to our students and to the entire flight community: to deliver inspiring educational experiences that launch careers in global aviation.

Our Story

For the last four decades, thousands of pilots from more than 75 countries have started their career paths with HAA. Global airlines and operators like Alaska Airlines, Horizon Air, Japan Airlines, Korean Air, ADAC, and Bristow have turned to us to train their pilots, making our graduates some of the most sought-after in the industry.

Our three Oregon-based campuses in Hillsboro, Troutdale, and Redmond provide a lifetime of memories for students who train with us. The spirit of adventure that draws students from around the world is fulfilled in one of the most visually stunning environments on earth. Our flight conditions are as diverse as our students, providing the instrument training experience that employers seek.

We’re an FAA-approved flight school and offer training under Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) Part 141 and FAR Part 61—providing you with flexible options to reach your career goals. We’re also the only flight school in the US offering joint EASA/FAA training for international students on the F-1 visa.

But even more importantly, we’re a school that prides itself on our dedication to the success of each student – and that means support resources ranging from mentorship to career events, from our on-site repair station to our industry-leading safety program. Our high standards of instruction and personal attention mean that students who train with us stay on track, enabling them to reach their career goals faster.

What makes us a flight school of choice among aspiring aviators?
