Airplane & Helicopter Degree Programs

Enhance your career prospects and take advantage of more financing options.

You can earn a two or four-year college degree at one of our partner colleges in tandem with your airplane flight training at Hillsboro Aero Academy. We’ve partnered with Portland Community College (PCC) and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) — Portland Campus to set you up for the career you’ve always dreamt of having.

Two-Year Associate’s Degree

This two-year degree starts with enrolling in Portland Community College’s Aviation Science program. You’ll cover general studies and aviation-specific courses, like applied aerodynamics and flight operations.

Completing this degree while you earn your pilot certificates and ratings at one of Hillsboro Aero Academy’s campuses drives the classroom learning home with hands-on experience.

What you’ll get:

  • Associate’s Degree
  • Commercial Pilot Certificate
  • Instrument Rating
  • Certified Flight Instructor/Certified Flight Instructor Instrument (optional)

You’ll fly away from the program with the first huge steps of your career as a commercial pilot completed. Having your degree and these pilot certificates and ratings gives you a competitive advantage over other pilots when you start to apply for your first jobs.

Four-Year Bachelor of Science Degree

If you want to go higher and get your bachelor’s degree, students can transfer college credits from Portland Community College to Embry-Riddle’s four-year aeronautics program at their Portland Campus. As long as you maintained at least a 2.0 grade point average, you’re guaranteed admission into the program.

Each program’s curriculum is designed to teach you the skills demanded in the highly competitive aviation and aerospace industries.

You’ll learn about everything from aviation security and safety to air traffic control and aeronautical science. Different electives and minors can be mixed and matched to meet your career goals.

When you’re done, you’ll walk away with your Bachelor of Science Degree and a huge head start on your career as a pilot.
