The Complete Program for Becoming a Professional  Airplane Pilot

The Airplane Professional Pilot Program is the full training course for people whose goal is to work as a professional airplane pilot. This program includes training for these certificates and ratings: Private, Instrument, Commercial, and Certified Flight Instructor. Most students who intend to build hours as flight instructors also complete their CFI Instrument and Multi-Engine Instructor ratings.

Accelerated 10-12 months
  • Designed for students seeking a faster career start
  • 7 days per week of availability required
  • 6 flight activities per week scheduled
  • Includes all Pro Pilot ratings shown below: PPL, IR, CPL, CFI, CFII, and MEI
  • 206.5 average flight hours
  • Available at our Redmond Campus from January through October and at our Hillsboro Campus from March through June
  • Includes all flight instruction, ground instruction, aircraft rentals, simulator rentals, and written tests
Standard 16-18 months
  • Designed for students who need flexibility or a slower pace
  • 5 days per week of availability required
  • 4-5 flight activities per week scheduled
  • Includes all Pro Pilot ratings shown below: PPL, IR, CPL, CFI, CFII, and MEI
  • 246.5 average flight hours
  • Available at our Hillsboro, OR campus
  • Includes all flight instruction, ground instruction, aircraft rentals, simulator rentals, and written tests.

*Price is based on averages. The high end of the range reflects all ratings, including optional but recommended CFII and MEI ratings. The low end of the range reflects Private through CFI only. See ratings detail below.

Please note: ACCSC accreditation applies to the full Professional Pilot Program. Individual courses are modules within the accredited program, but accreditation does not apply to courses taken individually, outside of program enrollment.

Private Pilot

Your Private Pilot Certificate lets you fly airplane for fun and recreation—giving rides to friends and family or flying for your own transport. It’s the first step toward building the skills needed for your Commercial Pilot Certificate. You’ll be in the cockpit from day one, getting hands-on experience.

Instrument

The Instrument Rating is an essential part of the airplane training program. Regardless of whether you fly in actual instrument conditions or not, the Instrument Rating will give you the tools and knowledge you need for a safe career as a professional pilot.

Commercial Pilot

Build on the skills you learned in previous training and gain confidence in the aircraft so that you will be prepared to carry passengers and get a job flying as a professional pilot. Whether your goal is to fly a Boeing 747, a Cessna Citation or a cargo plane, you need a Commercial Pilot Certificate to fly for hire.

Certified Flight Instructor

A Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) Rating is required for a pilot to instruct other pilots—often the first step in a pilot’s career and a great way to gain flight hours. You can build up your own experience and credentials while sharing your passion for flying with other aspiring pilots.

Optional: Certified Flight Instructor Instrument

This course combines the techniques developed in the prior instructor courses with the knowledge and experience you learned in the Instrument training to ensure that you are safe and proficient to teach a student to fly in the clouds.

The Multi-Engine Instructor (MEI) Course allows you to gain the experience and training necessary to instruct private and commercial pilots in a multi-engine airplane.
